Harvest Festival (Sabah): In the Spring - the traditional Harvest Festival is a month-long celebration with roots in Borneo’s earliest records. The yearly rice harvest rituals brought shamans or Bobohizans (ritual priestesses) in every village to thank Bambaazon, the rice spirit. Villagers used the time to gather, feast, play sports, play matchmaker and settle disputes. Stay at a world-renowned lodge to celebrate a mini Harvest Festival. Guests join local staff in an intimate atmosphere celebrating and honoring the deep traditions of this animist culture. Taste the traditional food, dance and enjoy music and song with traditional instruments. Staff wear the elaborate dress of the local ethnic tribes in Sabah and share the beauty of each piece in a small traditional pageant.
